Junior Technical Support Engineer

About Hozah

Hozah makes parking automatic. Our cameras recognise your car when you arrive and
payment happens by itself when you leave. No apps, no machines, no tickets. We were
named PayTech Company of the Year, we sit in Deloitte’s list of the 50 fastest growing
tech companies in the UK, and we are expanding our estate of automated car parks
across the country.
Every site runs on ANPR cameras, payment kiosks, edge devices and 4G connectivity,
and all of it has to work around the clock. The TechOps team keeps that estate healthy,
and we are looking for a junior engineer to join it.

The role

You will be hands-on from day one, helping to monitor, maintain and fix the technology
running in car parks across the country. When a camera drops offline, a kiosk
misbehaves or a site stops reporting data, you will be part of the team that works out
why and puts it right, usually remotely.
You will learn a genuinely broad set of skills in one role: networking, IoT devices,
monitoring, APIs, databases and cloud systems, all on a live estate where your work has
visible impact the same day. You will be coached and supported as you grow, with clear
standards, documented processes and experienced engineers around you.

What you’ll be doing

• Monitoring the health of cameras, kiosks and network equipment across 150+ car
parks, and acting when something looks wrong.
• Diagnosing and fixing faults across devices, networks and our backend platform,
working through problems methodically.
• Preparing, configuring and shipping hardware for new sites, and supporting site
launches.
• Keeping inventory, configuration records and documentation accurate and up to
date.
• Managing your tickets in Jira with clear notes, sensible prioritisation and proper
follow-through.
• Learning constantly: from the TechOps team, from our developers, and from the
estate itself.

What we’re looking for

This is a junior role. We care more about fundamentals, honesty and appetite to learn
than years of experience.
• Around 1-2 years of hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure or technical
operations, or strong fundamentals you can demonstrate from projects, a home lab
or study.
• Networking basics you can explain in plain English: what a switch and a router do,
what an IP address is, what a VPN is for.
• A structured instinct when something goes offline: check power, check the network,
check the device, in that order.
• Some awareness of APIs and SQL. You do not need to be fluent; knowing what they
are and wanting to use them is enough.
• Solid Windows knowledge: event logs, command line, system configuration.
• Organised, reliable and calm when something breaks on a live site.

What this role isn’t

• Corporate IT support. The users of our systems are cameras and cars, and the work
is looking after a distributed technology estate.
• A narrow role. You will touch hardware, networking, software and data in the same
week.
• A dead end. The team is growing, the estate is growing, and there is a clear path to
more senior TechOps work as you develop.

Salary, location and working pattern

• £26-32k depending on experience.
• 4 days a week in our Croydon office, 1 day from home, with occasional site visits.
• Free breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks in the office, excellent transport links, and
two friendly office dogs.
• You will need the right to work in the UK. A full UK driving licence is handy for site
visits.
