The Hozah team headed to Chatham for the Workman LLP annual conference, hosted at the extraordinary setting of The Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent. Workman is the UK’s largest independent commercial property management and building consultancy firm, and their annual gathering brings together the centre managers who run their portfolio of retail and leisure destinations across the country.
It was a great opportunity to spend the day with the people responsible for operating some of the UK’s biggest and busiest retail destinations. Conversations ranged across the challenges and opportunities facing the sector right now, and two themes kept coming up: revenue and data.
Parking as a revenue opportunity
Across our conversations, the message on revenue was clear, car parks remain one of the most underleveraged assets on a retail destination. For many centre managers, parking is still treated as a cost to manage rather than an income stream to optimise. Intelligent parking technology changes that picture significantly, turning what has traditionally been an operational headache into a consistent and scalable source of revenue.
The data opportunity
On data, the opportunity is just as compelling. Our friends at Sensormatic Solutions echoed something we hear regularly: centre managers are hungry for better insight into how their sites are actually being used, but too often the data that exists sits in silos. Parking is one of the richest sources of behavioural data on a retail destination, when people arrive, how long they stay, how visit patterns shift across the week, and when that data is surfaced and connected to the wider picture, it becomes a genuinely powerful tool for decision-making.
What sets Hozah apart
A question that came up more than once throughout the day was what sets Hozah apart from other parking technology providers. The honest answer is three things: the depth of our data, the way we operate, and the commercial model we bring to the table. Where many solutions offer surface-level reporting, Hozah gives centre managers rich, actionable insight into how their car park and destination are performing. Unlike some operators in the market, we do that without relying on aggressive enforcement or punitive practices, our model is built on fairness to the motorist and value to the landlord. And critically, getting started with Hozah requires zero capital expenditure from the landlord. We invest in the technology and infrastructure, we carry the risk, and centre managers benefit from day one without having to find budget they do not have.
It was great to connect with both familiar faces and new ones, and The Historic Dockyard made for a memorable backdrop to the day. We are looking forward to building on the connections made in Chatham.
